This is late start Monday (much like late start Tuesday for you Valley folks). We have a day in the schedule when we do not start till 10:30 and this is it. Great time in our schedule as it is in the middle. We had the best of days yesterday. Began the day with a fantastic bible study. We have the same Pastor today and are thankful for that as he was excellent. From Bible study we proceeded to the Spectacle. This was comprised of many big inflatable games etc and a Persecution site. Our boys did the Persecution option and said it was thought provoking. We went on the Katrina Tour and saw just a small portion of the devastated areas and just a few homes still abandoned to the flooding. We visited a small lutheran church and heard the pastor talk about 10 feet of water in his sanctuary. To sit there and imagine that was chilling. He spoke of parishoners being scattered about and of some who never returned. You could hear the sorrow in his heart for that and the joy for his Church and community coming back to life. That was the feeling of the whole tour. Sorrow for the loss and joy at the rebirth. We ate some fantastic seafood and steak (we were starving) and proceeded to the mass event. This was a much more orderly affair or maybe we just knew what to expect and were more tolerant. To close out the night we saw the Skit Guys at a nearby hotel (parents google them and watch some of their stuff). We met briefly for Oreos and milk and discussions about "what do you believe when it's hard to believe", what was coming tomorrow and what everyone wanted to see and do on Monday. And so another day begins....
Parents: we keep looking for comments and find none. Let us know you're out there. Really you should look at the Skit Guys, they are sooooo funny. We are doing laundry, need to keep them in those matching shirts, don't want to lose anyone. Keep us in your prayers, things are going great. One little aside "random Red Bull give aways" not such a great thing.

WOW! I've really enjoyed these updates. You guys have been busy! Kristy was so sweet to call me last night, but forgot about the time difference, so I got a wake up call at 1:30 am. Thanx again for taking such good care of our teens and making sure they check their UC. I learned something new about being dehydrated.
ReplyDeleteHave a Wonderful Day!!
Sounds like you are having fun and a lot of thought provoking activities. Be safe. I noted that several kids posted to their facebooks about the skit guys. Comedic relief can be a good thing.
ReplyDeleteHi, Everyone.
ReplyDeleteYou all must be having a blast! I'm so glad to hear that the Bible studies, events, and excursions are so beneficial-- making you think, causing ever greater reason for thanks to God for his life, care, and love. I'll be anxious to hear more from each of you. God bless all you're doing. Sorry I haven't commented since you left. I just got back from Houston. I hope you get a chance to meet our new Synod President, Pastor Matt Harrison. I imagine he'll make an appearance at the gathering. God bless!!!
Pastor
